What are the proceeds of the race used for? The race is organised on a completely voluntary basis by Goring Primary School PTFA. The entry fees initially cover the cost of staging the race (road closures, traffic management, chips, timing, facilities, etc). All of the profits from this race will go to Goring Primary School. In previous years we raised money for a library and new minibus for taking children on school trips, to sports matches and to forest school.

If you need to drive, please consider car sharing and park responsibly. You can park on residential roads, at Goring and Streatley Station, Thames Court Car Park (RG8 9AR) Wheel Orchard Car Park (RG8 9HB) (some have meters so bring change or a card). Please leave 10-15mins to get from the car parks in the village to Registration.
Do I get a medal? Yes every finisher on the day collects an eco board medal. For the second year we have opted for eco medals which are fully recyclable (made from eco board and hessian string) to reduce landfill. These will be handed to all runners at the end of the race. If you want a permanent momento, subject to availability, you can buy a metal medal for £1.50 when you enter the race online. You will need to collect the metal medal from the Registration desk when you collect your number, these cannot be sent out in the post owing to costs. If you enter on the day we cannot offer you a metal medal sadly as we order and engrave in advance.
How is your race sustainable? We have chosen eco medals which are fully recyclable (made from eco board and hessian string) to reduce landfill. As well as that, the water offered to runners at the finish is in reusable plastic cups which our wonderful volunteers wash by hand.
How long has the Goring 10k been going for? The Goring 10k began in 1998, set up by the village postman. The course started and finished in the centre of the village. By 2000, it had a registered route and started raising funds for the Primary School. In 2007 the PTA changed the course so it started and finished at the rear of the school. The event has run every year expect in 2018 where it had to be called off owing to snow . During Covid (2021) the race took place virtually as ‘10k Your Way’. Therefore in 2025 we are pleased to be celebrating our 25th Anniversary race.
